Geylang East Home For The Aged...

I volunteered to help out at the Geylang East Home For The Aged yesterday, tgt w Xinyu n Cher. The Home organised an outing for their old folks. We went to the Botanica Garden and had dinner at a vegetarian restaurant in Orchard.

Some old folks had difficulty walking.. some are wheelchair bound. We had to be meticulous when it comes to takin care of them.










Some ah peks n ah mahs r quite shy. Of cos.. there r still some chirpy n bubbly ones. Haha.. Uncle Michael (below pic.. the ah pek facing camera) was doin a dance w his favourite buddy for the other old folks and some tourists. haha..











Found many tortises and DUCKS at the Swan Lake. I was so excited when i saw the ducks! They were walking freely and shitting freely along the lake.
One of the ah peks was watching the duckies strolling by.. and i caught him mumbling this to himself "ho jia" (means 'delicious' in hokkien)
omg.. faint! HAHAHAAH...

Haha.. i'm caught on e camera...
opps.. i left the ah peks behind to catch duckie. kekeke...


In the meantime.. I saw 3 couples having their wedding photoshoots.

Felt sth stirring within me when i took this pic. Hmm.. wonder wat this ah pek was thinkin as he saw this newly wed couple posing for photo.

Since young, we were taught tt doin a gd deed makes one happy. 善有善报.
I think I've gotten over this phase.
And i'm glad.. I did.. while keepin in mind e significance of wat they mean.

Its nt jus abt making myself happy over good deeds.
In fact, i dun see why looking after old folks is merely a 'good deed'.
Its sth natural.. jus lke hw parents look aft their children.
Too bad.. its taken for granted.

I wont say tt a simple outing lke tt gave me a tremedous change or made me a better person.
But at least, it sets me thinking...
abt taking care of my parents when they grow old...
abt me......... when i grow old..



I wish tt... my kids can grow up w their grandparents.


It will be a beautiful thing.
