Happy Teachers' Day!
Tomorrow is Teachers' Day! *blow balloons and whistles* Woohooo...
I have this sudden urge to blog an entry.. not as a tribute to all teachers out there. 'Tribute' is a big word. And i'm nt goin to preach abt "my favourite teacher" or "how kids nowadays shd respect teachers". ahha... tt wld be fun tou, isnt it?
Just some memories and tots to share w u.
I'm goin to be 20 this yr. I've spent more than half of my life in school. Met lots of teachers. Interacted with some. Taught by some. Punished by a few onli (haha..yea. i'm a gd kid ok). Praised by some. And wat hve u?
Surely, there's a stirring in ya heart whenever it's Teachers' Day.
This feeling gets stronger when i get into uni.
See the irony? Now u no longer celebrates Teachers' Day in sch, u dun see the same teacher for the entire yr (instead u see them for a semester or fortnitely for tutorials).
(Sometimes I'm jus convince tt being an adult can be soo boring. U rlly miss out alot of fun.. lke celebrating teachers' day.. national day... etc)
Yet, this is the time u begin to find those memories of ya pri sch n sec sch teachers... sweet.
My fondest memories w teachers who r closer to my heart..
were those who taught me in pri n sec schs.
I must say.. I hve teachers who treat me rlly well. Esp nice sometimes. haha
But I'm nt those who deliberately wana get into the good books of teachers.
I truly respect them.
And when u sincerely respect somebody, he/she can feel it.
Teacher-student r/s is a knowlege itself.
Sometimes when you are closer to your teacher, you tend to go over the line.
Be it over display of affection or treating ya teacher lke ya buddy.
Yea, seekin a balance point in teacher-student r/s is impt.
Its a skill. (speakin fr my own experience :) )
When you know tt some teachers especially dote on you, appreciate it.
Dun go ard yaking abt it. Dun feel tt u r superior jus becos of tt.
Just simply acknowledge it and pay extra attn in class.
Tts the onli way u can repay them.
Great teachers wont abandon u because u din do well in ya studies at times when u rlly tried ya best.
Great teachers give u a good hug when they know u need it.
I'm so blessed tt I've found them.
They hve touched my heart.
Some tiny bits of memories tt i still rmb...
I had the whole class celebrating my birthday w me at sch canteen when i was pri 4. (My form teacher had kindly brought the whole class down to canteen for one whole period. Esp to celebrate my birthday..) Thank you so much.
Ms khor (my pri sch principal) rmbed me even aft she was transferred to another pri sch. She invited me to perform (sing) for an event in her new school when i was in sec 1 or 2. I was so moved and felt so proud to be able to perform for her. It is rlly my pleasure! Hope she is doin well..
Ms Lui gave me a little gift and card for my birthday when I was in sec 4. Thanx alot! Its rlly sweet of her to rmb my bday.
Esp to those teachers who hve taught me...
